Mrs. Velarde

Hi! My name is Adriana Velarde and I’m the assistant band director here at Lang Middle School! I’m originally from Mexico City, but I grew up in Dallas. I joined band when I was in 5th grade and my main instrument is the French horn. I attended Garland High School where I excelled in my playing and allowed me to participate in Region all four years. After making a tough decision between a full ride soccer scholarship or a music scholarship, I decided to go with music. I attended Northwestern State located in a very small town in Louisiana. In my four years there I served as a section leader and a drum major. I picked up trumpet as my secondary instrument and performed in many recitals. I also joined Kappa Kappa Psi, the  National Honorary Band Fraternity which allowed me to form many job connections. I graduated with a degree in Music Education and quickly moved back to Texas in search of a job. I just finished my 3rd year and I’m excited for what’s to come!
